Design

My attention to detail and ability to listen will result in you getting the garden you want. My clients always lead the design requirements and I never rush into a design or suggest features for their own sake. Indeed, sometimes I will suggest only subtle changes where these will result in a new way of seeing your garden. I believe that harmony between a new garden design and its surroundings is part of the job that needs proper consideration. I do not use a one-size-fits-all approach.
If you are interested in a very personal design for your garden, please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Constructions

Depending on the complexity and skill levels required to build your garden I might do the work myself or invite a quote from a sub-contractor. I always work closely with my construction team and oversee their work, sometimes labouring on site too. I am at hand to make those crucial on site decisions that will inevitably crop up during the construction stage. I have worked hard at building relationships with a range of skilled and experience suppliers, craftsmen and fellow designers/horticulturalists.
Once the design has been agreed, I will discuss the construction arrangements with you. If all you require is a recommended craftsman then I will be happy to put you in touch with one of my contacts.

Maintenance
I get a great deal of pleasure from working in a garden and am happy to take on a variety of maintenance contracts. Over the past 20 years my maintenance work has varied from one-off jobs and annual clipping of a privet hedge through to full responsibility for the appearance of front gardens and large estates.
Please do contact me to discuss your maintenance requirements.

Making the Most of What You've Got
I would be delighted to help you work out the best way to reorganise your garden without going to the lengths of a full redesign. Sometimes all that's needed is a fresh pair of eyes and a few tricks of the trade to change a garden into a space that really satisfies your current needs. If you want to chat about your existing garden and how to make the most out of it, just give me a call.

Horticultural Support and Guidance
I can help if you want to learn how to look after your garden or grow your own fruit and vegetables. I know that methods of pruning and how to look after herbaceous perennials can seem daunting if you don't know have gardening experience. I have the gardening experience and many years teaching experience. Learning the required techniques to grow and look after your plants will be great fun and rewarding too. Looking after the numerous beds and plants at the BBC Gardener's World has taught me just about all there is to know about compost! I would welcome the chance to talk to you about how to manage your compost heap.
If you want to learn more about looking after your garden, then don't hesitate to contact me.

Local Authorities and Charities
Since 2004 I have worked on a variety of local authority and charity projects. One was Brunel 200 Project: a collaboration between Swindon Town Centre Management, six local charities, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the National Trust and a number of national household names and local businesses. I project managed the scheme and designed six community gardens built in Swindon Town Centre. Another was a collaboration between the Princes Trust, the National Trust and the Swindon Town Centre Management team, where I provided design consultancy.
I would be interested in getting involved in your community of charity project.

Working with Businesses
As well as providing a maintenance service, I now use innovative ideas to solve landscape or horticultural issues. By applying subtle horticultural and design solutions, I have helped businesses to improve their turnover and the environmental experience for their customers and employees. An example of this approach resulted in a restaurant increasing its footfall literally overnight. I achieved this by negotiating with the local authorities to gain permission to lower a 250 metre strip of roadside hedge by two metres. The restaurant was then visible to passing traffic which resulted in a very significant increase trade. Similarly, by using innovative design and and vandle resistant planting, I improved the indoor environment for customers and staff in a town centre outlet and did the same for the street-scene outside a high street business. The success of these projects was due to the approach I took of really finding out about the business and relevant planning authorities.
Please do contact me to discuss how I might be able to provide similar services for your business.
